Williwaw

"Treat a stranger as you would a williwaw: be kind but never turn your back."
-Northern Ordinian proverb

Classification: Infused Beast
Major Elements: Air
Minor Elements: None
Habitat: Coastal Rocky and Mountainous Terrain

Along the northern and eastern coasts of Ordin, where the Brimming Sea sweeps relentlessly against the rocky shores, there lives a species of goat unlike any other on Telus. Locals of the region often speak of how friendly and playful the Windy Stack goats are, and many a traveler has returned from a visit with the sociable bovids with a significantly uplifted spirit.

But while the locals will speak highly of the williwaws, in the next breath they will warn visitors away. Having spent generations among the endless buffeting of winds coming in off the sea, some of the goats in the region have developed a strong connection to the Aura element. The result is a sub-species with a particularly perilous sense of humor.

The williwaw's elemental nature is not readily apparent to the casual observer. Besides a particularly fine and downy coat, a friendly demeanor rare among wild creatures, and a grace notable even among their kind, the wind goats seem much like their non-elemental relatives. But like many Air elementals, the Williwaw are also mischievous and capricious. While one moment they may be amicable, the next moment a visitor may find themselves the victim of a williwaw's dangerous tricks.

Williwaws can reach incredible speeds in a moments notice, briefly shifting to a form more akin to a true elemental. While their shifted, Air-like bodies are not capable dealing any significant injury to their victims, the unexpected assault can nonetheless be a dangerous experience. The exact reason for the charge is unclear. It rarely has been seen used as a defensive behavior, occurring when the williwaw feels threatened, like the butting of their non-elemental brethren. Interestingly the attacks more often seem to relate to the position of the victim, taking place in moments when the outsider is vulnerable and the attack likely to have some sort of extraneous result, such as a tumble down a hillside or fall into nearby water. Most scholars that have studied the species have assumed the behavior to just be a particularly nasty example of the humor seen among many Aura creatures.
